Time
To participate students must sign up with their name, school, and level on the sign-up sheets posted outside of the door of one of the rooms where poetry is being held. Do not wait until the last moment to sign up.
Information
Limits:
- Level 1: 1 student
- Level 2: 1 student
- Level 3: 1 student
Students are expected to memorize the text of their level; NO reading is allowed.
Judging Criteria
Exceptionnel: The winner of the contest after a final play-off performance.
Mention Spéciale: Nearly flawless; spontaneous; exceptional performance with superb pronunciation, and liasons, a presentation which communicates with feeling and the deep meaning of the poem.
Excellent: Little hesitation; a little stiff or mechanical, but good pronunciation and expression; no cues needed, technically proficient, but missing the spark of real understanding.
Très Bien: Some hesitation; fair pronunciation; 1 or 2 cues needed, some mistakes.
Bien: Halting; 3 or more cues needed; quite a few pronunciation problems; little drama.
Assez Bien: Cannot finish performance or skips sections of poem; poor pronunciation; difficult to understand.
